Swaps Overhaul Should Boost Market Vibrancy: CFTC Chair

Law360, New York (November 13, 2017, 9:49 PM EST) -- An overhaul of the swaps market proposed in the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act should be reviewed to ensure that the policies enhance rather than restrict market “vibrancy,” U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman J. Christopher Giancarlo said Monday.

In a speech to the International Swaps and Derivatives Association Regulators and Industry Forum in Singapore, Giancarlo said the CFTC, in response to policies outlined in the Dodd-Frank law, has taken the wrong approach to swap market reform by attempting to “re-engineer the entire market structure of swaps execution.”...
