Ohio Justices Exempt Packaging Co. From $3.2M Use Tax

Law360, New York (December 6, 2017, 7:15 PM EST) -- The Ohio Supreme Court affirmed a lower-court decision Wednesday to dismiss a $3.2 million use tax assessment on a company that hired temporary employees to assemble and package gift sets of soaps, lotions and other toiletry items.

In backing the 2015 decision by the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals, the high court addressed several separate issues that pertained to the specific business operations of Accel Inc. and the tax implications for a company involved in both assembling and packaging.
