John Edwards Wants Hearsay Banned From Criminal Trial

Law360, Washington (February 16, 2012, 1:52 PM EST) -- Former presidential candidate John Edwards asked a North Carolina federal court on Wednesday to ban hearsay from a criminal trial over allegations he and others used campaign payments to cover up an extramarital affair during his 2008 presidential campaign.

The government seeks to introduce hearsay evidence under a co-conspirator exception from two absent campaign donors who allege nearly $1 million was siphoned from campaign donations for living expenses for videographer Rielle Hunter.
