XTO Sues DOJ, Seeks Docs In Pa. Fracking Wastewater Row

Law360, New York (January 14, 2016, 9:25 PM EST) -- An Exxon Mobil Corp. unit on Thursday sued the U.S. Department of Justice in an attempt to force the agency to release documents that may clear the company of environmental criminal charges in Pennsylvania, saying the DOJ's refusal to comply with a subpoena is without merit.

XTO Energy Inc., which has been accused by the state of Pennsylvania of spilling toxic wastewater from a gas well site, said its suit against the Justice Department seeks to compel the agency to produce exculpatory documents that are related to the commonwealth's case against the hydraulic fracturing oil company.
