You've Been Warned, SEC Head Says Of Cryptocoin Offerings

Law360, New York (November 16, 2017, 9:52 PM EST) -- Federal regulators have so-called initial coin offerings — cryptocurrency fundraising methods that have ballooned in popularity — squarely in their sights, the head of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said Thursday.

Responding to a question at a symposium on cybersecurity and financial crimes, SEC Chairman Jay Clayton said his office will start taking action against coin offering issuers who fail to register with the agency or comply with federal laws.
