Co. Fights To Save Patent On Urine Bags Used By Pilots

Law360, Washington (December 6, 2017, 3:26 PM EST) -- American Innotek Inc. fought to overturn a ruling that its patent covering waste disposal bags used by U.S. Air Force pilots was obvious during an appeal before a Federal Circuit panel Wednesday.

AI, which sued the government for hiring a rival contractor that allegedly infringed the patent, said its urine collection devices that allow pilots to take longer flights used a novel polymer material that proved far more successful than previous products in containing spills inside the cockpit.
