6th Circ. Denies Albanian Duo's Bid For BIA Ruling Review

Law360, New York (May 19, 2017, 9:27 PM EDT) -- The Sixth Circuit on Thursday denied an Albanian couple’s bid to reverse a Board of Immigration Appeals support of an order for their removal and denial of their permanent resident status application, rejecting arguments they weren’t out of ‘lawful status” over the country’s 180-day grace period.

Facing removal from the United States, Sofokli Gazeli and his wife, Mirela Gazeli, asked an immigration judge in 2006 to approve applications to change their status from visitors to permanent residents, based on a work visa the husband had secured through his employer....
