Stryker Plays Down DOJ Probe

Law360, New York (September 12, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Stryker Corp.’s top executive reiterated Monday that the Department of Justice’s current probe into the multibillion-dollar orthopedic industry has been narrowed to one specific incident.

At a Bear Sterns health care conference in New York, Stryker CEO Stephen MacMillan said reports were accurate that a rival company made a single, unsuccessful attempt to forge a universal pricing strategy.

“There’s not much there,” he said, according to Dow Jones. “This industry is too darn competitive to allow price-fixing.”
