Visioneer's Scanner Patent Suit V. KeyScan Tossed

Law360 (May 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Finding that the company lacked standing, a federal judge has thrown out Visioneer Inc.'s patent lawsuit against KeyScan Inc., which claimed that a keyboard-mounted computer scanner made by KeyScan infringed a Visioneer patent.

Judge Marilyn Hall Patel of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Monday granted KeyScan's motion to dismiss the case on the grounds that Visioneer is not the owner, assignee or exclusive licensee of the single patent-at-issue, and thus did not have standing to bring the suit.
