Calif. Court Nixes Bid For Malpractice Damages

Law360 (May 12, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California inventor will not receive the millions in damages he sought due to alleged attorney malpractice during a dispute over a liquid level sensor patent, after a state appeals court ruled the trial court acted properly in striking the testimony of a damages witness.

An accountant who knew little about the automotive industry or sensor technology was not qualified to testify on potential royalties, the Court of Appeal for the State of California, Second Appellate District said in a ruling published Monday.
