EU Pressures Members To Modify Reporting Rules

Law360, New York (May 14, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission has decided to take action against five member states, claiming they have failed to implement as national law a directive for simplifying reporting requirements for mergers and divisions.

On Thursday, the commission said it would send reasoned opinions — the second stage of an infringement procedure under Article 226 of the EC Treaty – to Belgium, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary and Italy.
