Board Of Immigration Appeals Expands To 21 Members

Law360 (February 28, 2018, 9:10 PM EST) -- The Board of Immigration Appeals has increased its size to 21 members, in light of the "unprecedented" pending immigration caseload, according to a notice published in the Federal Register on Tuesday.

The final rule, which adds four additional board members to the BIA, was "necessary" to accomplish the Executive Office for Immigration Review's push to adjudicate immigration cases more quickly, the notice said, adding that the EOIR has been "managing the largest caseload the immigration court system had ever seen."
