SG Backs Schlumberger In Bid To Revive $93M Patent Award

Law360 (March 5, 2018, 8:40 PM EST) -- The solicitor general on Friday urged the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a decision that held patent owners cannot recover profits lost outside the U.S., one of several briefs supporting Schlumberger Ltd. in its bid to reinstate a $93 million damages award.

Solicitor General Noel Francisco said in an amicus brief there was no sound basis for the Federal Circuit to throw out the $93 million in lost profits that Schlumberger unit WesternGeco LLC won in a patent lawsuit against rival Ion Geophysical Corp.
