3 Patents Invalidated In Epson, Coretronic Spat

Law360 (May 18, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has invalidated two patents held by Seiko Epson Corp. and one held by Coretronic Corp. for multimedia projector technology, granting motions by each side alleging that the other's patents were anticipated or obvious.

Judge Marilyn Hall Patel of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled Friday that some claims of one of Epson's patents, U.S. Patent Number 6,203,158, were invalid because they were anticipated by a Japanese patent application and another claim of that patent was invalid for obviousness....
