DOI Recognizes Nooksack Council Following Tribal Election

Law360 (March 12, 2018, 6:18 PM EDT) -- The Nooksack Indian Tribe on Friday announced that the U.S. Department of the Interior has reinstated recognition of its leadership in the wake of a December special tribal election.

In a letter, U.S. Department of the Interior Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs John Tahsuda recognized the validity of the Nooksack tribal council, which is comprised of four members who were elected in the December vote and four who were elected in 2014, according to a news release from the tribe.
