Acting NASA Head To Step Down As Nominee Remains Stalled

Law360 (March 13, 2018, 5:45 PM EDT) -- NASA’s acting head will retire at the end of April, he announced Monday, prompting former astronaut Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., to once again urge the White House to put forward a “space professional” to lead the agency in place of current nominee Rep. Jim Bridenstine, R-Okla.

Robert Lightfoot, a nearly three-decade NASA veteran and the acting NASA administrator, announced in a memo to colleagues issued late on Monday that he will retire from the agency at the end of April.
