Gym Chain Must Pay Workers Overtime: 6th Circ.

Law360, New York (May 19, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- National fitness chain Life Time Fitness Inc. must hand out overtime compensation to a group of employees who participated in the company's corporate bonus-pay plan between January and August 2004, an appeals court has ruled.

The ruling Tuesday by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit reversed a lower court's ruling that Life Time Fitness, which owns and operates approximately 60 health and fitness centers throughout the U.S., wasn't liable for overtime compensation to plaintiffs who were subject to the...
