Derivative Suit Against HP Faults Wilson Sonsini

Law360, New York (September 15, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The legal whirlwind that began after Hewlett-Packard Co. revealed a boardroom-spying scandal is threatening to engulf the computer giant’s outside counsel, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, after a shareholder derivative lawsuit against HP laid plenty of blame on the Silicon Valley law firm.

Although Wilson Sonsini isn’t named in the suit, plaintiffs claim the law firm gave bad advice to the HP board as it looked for ways to pinpoint which board member was leaking confidential information to the media.
