ICIA Denies CERCLA Responsibility at Calif. Site

Law360, New York (May 20, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- ICI Americas Inc. has fired back at JFE Steel Corp. in an ongoing suit it filed to recover costs under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act for the cleanup of a Santa Ana, Calif., Teflon recycling center.

International paint purveyor ICIA filed counterclaims to the second amend complaint on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court of Delaware, denying claims that it contaminated the surface and subsurface soil and ground water at the site with hazardous waste derived from the Teflon recycling process.
