Dow, PPG Told To Pay $18M Over Dry Cleaning Chem.

Law360 (May 20, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A California city has won its battle with Dow Chemical Co. and PPG Industries over dry cleaning chemicals that allegedly contaminated city sites, as a jury ordered the two to pay over $18 million.

The jury in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Francisco awarded Modesto, Calif., about $18.3 million for the clean up of sites contaminated with perchloroethylene, a chemical used in dry cleaning.
