Pentagon Pushes For Boeing-Lockheed Rocket Deal

Law360 (September 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Federal Trade Commission should clear the merger of Lockheed Martin Corp. and Boeing Co.’s rocket-launch businesses even though it would leave the market dominated by a single company, according to a letter sent to the regulator by the U.S. military.

The Pentagon said in the letter that the proposed deal would save U.S. taxpayers as much as $150 million per year by eliminating redundant overhead for launches of government satellites for military, intelligence and other purposes.
