MIT Wins Round In Heavyweight Patent Fight

Law360, New York (September 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A long-running patent infringement suit between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Microsoft Corp. is still alive, thanks to a ruling by a federal appeals court panel.

In its opinion, handed down last Wednesday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit sent the case back to district court. Among other things, it said the district court had erred in its construction of “aesthetic correction circuitry,” and in excluding Microsoft Windows as an infringing product.
