Playtex Wins Discovery Stay In Bottle Defect Suit

Law360, New York (May 26, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has temporarily put the brakes on "costly" aspects of discovery in a proposed class action accusing Playtex Products Inc. of manufacturing defective baby bottles, ruling that only easily fulfilled discovery requests should move forward.

The ruling Thursday by Magistrate Judge P. Michael Mahoney in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois comes as the company’s motion to toss the litigation over alleged defects in its VentAire and VentAire Advanced baby bottles is pending.
