Geisinger Inks $6.5M Deal To End Pa. Infant Death Suit
Law360 (April 13, 2018, 8:10 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania state judge approved a $6.5 million settlement on Friday to end a lawsuit accusing doctors with Geisinger Health System of failing to properly diagnose an intestinal obstruction in a 10-month-old child who died of septic shock after going untreated for the condition.
The parents of Gunner Hayes said in a petition seeking approval of the deal that they believed it fairly compensated them for the death of their son in September 2015 as he awaited treatment after doctors discovered that a section of his intestines had telescoped into itself.
