5 Tips For Parental Leave Policies That Minimize Legal Risk

Law360 (May 11, 2018, 10:27 PM EDT) -- A recent lawsuit accusing Morrison & Foerster LLP of giving pregnant women and working mothers short shrift on pay and promotions showed that even the most sophisticated employers can get tripped up by parental leave issues.

The lawsuit, filed April 30 by three unnamed associates in California, alleged that the BigLaw firm delayed their expected promotions and accompanying pay increases when they returned from maternity leave, and that the firm didn't adequately address problems relating to its treatment of pregnant attorneys or working mothers.
