General Re Execs Indicted In Connecticut For Fraud

Law360, New York (September 21, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Four former executives of Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s reinsurance arm were indicted Wednesday in Connecticut on charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and violate federal securities law.

U.S. Attorney General for Connecticut Kevin O’Connor filed charges against former General Reinsurance CEO Ronald Ferguson, former CFO Elizabeth Monrad, and former senior vice presidents Robert Graham and Christopher Garand.

The indictment adds 16 new counts to the 13 counts already pending against the executives in Virginia. In the Virginia case, all four have pled not guilty.
