Hospice Nurses Slap Vitas With Overtime Action

Law360 (June 8, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Hospice care provider Vitas Healthcare Corp. has been hit with a putative collective action accusing the company of willfully violating federal law by shaving away overtime hours and requiring employees to work off the clock.

Named plaintiff Reyna Macaltao, who worked as a health care provider clerk for Vitas, filed her complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Thursday. Macaltao, a registered nurse, became a full-time Vitas employee in 2003 and worked for the company until June 1.
