Arizona Court Trims Lawyers' Fees In Patent Litigation

Law360, New York (March 2, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- A court in Phoenix, Arizona has ruled that a New York law firm grossly overcharged its client in a patent infringement suit.

The Superior Court found that the now-defunct patent law firm Lucas & Just overcharged its client, Minnesota-based Scanner Technologies Corporation, in its lawsuit against ICOS Vision Systems Corporation in the New York Southern District.

"The number of hours billed by the Defendants was grossly excessive," the court wrote in its ruling, according to Scanner Technologies.
