NAACP Seeks Class Cert. In Lilly Race Bias Suit

Law360, New York (June 9, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The NAACP has asked a federal judge to certify a nationwide class of current and former employees of Eli Lilly and Co. in a suit alleging that the pharmaceuticals giant discriminates against black employees by paying them less than their white co-workers.

The motion and third amended complaint, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, allege that Lilly not only pays its black workers less but also denies them equal job assignments, promotional opportunities, training and other employment benefits, thereby...
