Doctors Bring Class Action Against Health Insurers

Law360, New York (September 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- UnitedHealth Group Inc. and Oxford Health Plans Inc. have unfairly stifled competition by coercing doctors into giving them more business, according to a class action lawsuit filed against the two companies.

According to the complaint, which was filed Tuesday in New York State Supreme Court, United and Oxford told thousands of doctors that if they wanted to join one insurer then they would have to join the other.
