Couture Companies Sue eBay Over Faked Fashions

Law360, New York (September 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In an attempt to remove counterfeit couture from the online auctioneer, high-end fashion labels Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior have sued eBay for not policing faux fashions.

In a civil complaint filed in Paris over the summer, the two Paris fashion houses asked for €27 million in damages, alleging that products sold on eBay bearing their names were fakes in the vast majority of cases.

Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy is claiming €20 million and Dior Couture is asking for €17 million for fakes sold between 2001...
