Sparboe, Direct Purchasers Settle In Egg Price MDL

Law360, New York (June 12, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Sparboe Farms Inc., the fifth-largest egg producer in the country, has become the first defendant to settle with direct purchasers in multidistrict litigation accusing a slew of egg trade groups and agricultural companies of a long-running conspiracy to limit production and drive up prices.

Litchfield, Minn.-based Sparboe entered into a settlement agreement with the nine direct purchasers named in the suit effective June 8, according to the stipulation Judge Gene E.K. Pratter of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania signed Thursday....
