FCC Announces $100M Telehealth Pilot Program

Law360 (July 11, 2018, 8:21 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission announced Wednesday it plans to launch a telehealth program aimed at improving health outcomes in rural areas and backed by $100 million in funding from the Universal Service Fund.

The commission will vote on a notice of inquiry at its August open meeting, seeking comment on a proposal to devote $100 million from the Universal Service Fund for remote patient monitoring programs, targeted at Medicaid recipients, other low-income Americans and veterans, according to a release.
