Ky. Gas Royalties Fraud Action Settled For $28.7M

Law360, New York (June 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Hundreds of Kentucky real estate lessors accusing three energy companies of cheating them out of millions of dollars in natural gas royalties have reached a $28.7 million deal to settle their class action lawsuit.

Notice of the proposed settlement with defendants Chesapeake Appalachia LLC, NiSource Inc. and Columbia Energy Group was given Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
