Engineers Claim Former Union Illegally Hoarded Dues

Law360, New York (September 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A group of locomotive engineers and its union have fired off a suit against the United Transportation Union, claiming it wrongly collected dues from the engineers after they switched unions.

The engineers employed by the Union Pacific Railroad Co. and their union, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLET), filed the suit Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. The engineers claimed that their former union, its subsidiaries and Union Pacific violated the Railway Labor Act.
