FCC Told To Clarify Denial Of Verizon Immunity Bid

Law360, New York (June 19, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has ruled that the Federal Communications Commission erroneously denied a petition by Verizon Telephone Cos. for immunity from regulations in six metropolitan areas, ordering the agency to offer a “reasoned explanation” for the rejection.

A three-judge panel in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit found Friday that the FCC wrongly denied Verizon’s petition by “departing from the legal standards and analyses” used in previous forbearance orders.
