R&D Org. Hits Samsung With 2 Cell Phone Patent Suits

Law360, New York (June 22, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Taiwanese research and development organization has launched two suits against Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., claiming the electronics giant willfully infringed two patents covering cell phone technology with six of its handsets.

The Industrial Technology Research Institute filed two complaints in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas on Friday against Samsung's global operations, Samsung Electronics America Inc. and Samsung Telecommunications America LP.
