Dems Urge Obama To Suspend Military Gay Ban

Law360, New York (June 22, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A group of Democratic lawmakers has joined calls for President Barack Obama to issue an executive order suspending the discharge of gay service members from the military ahead of expected legislative action overturning the controversial “don't ask, don't tell” policy.

In a letter sent to the White House on Monday, 77 members of Congress urged the president to “exercise the maximum discretion legally possible in administering 'don't ask, don't tell' until Congress repeals the law.”
