Car Insurers Accused Of Bad Faith Claims Handling

Law360, New York (June 23, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Three Montana car insurance policyholders have filed a proposed class action against a group of insurers allegedly controlled by Unitrin Inc. that allegedly structured their car insurance premiums to dodge claims payouts, in violation of the state’s stacking laws.

Debbie Holton and Craig and Joy Churchill filed a third amended complaint Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, accusing a group of insurers of willfully violating the state’s stacking laws.
