Greenwich Told To Pay Defense Costs In Injury Suit

Law360, New York (June 24, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has ordered primary insurer Greenwich Insurance Co. to pay excess insurer National Union Fire Insurance Co. more than $530,000 in defense costs in a coverage squabble that began after the settlement of an underlying personal injury lawsuit.

But Judge John C. Coughenour's ruling, issued Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, granted summary judgment in favor of Greenwich Insurance with respect to National Union's claims of bad faith and violation of the Washington state Consumer Protection Act....
