Simpson Thacher And Recruiting Firm Settle Payment Row
By Sam Reisman (September 19, 2018, 6:26 PM EDT) -- Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and a legal recruiter on Tuesday confidentially settled a nearly $1 million dispute in Manhattan federal court over the firm's alleged nonpayment for the placement of a bankruptcy partner, closing the book on a sticky discovery dispute regarding internal firm communications.
Before they settled, the parties had clashed over whether 28 internal firm emails were protected from disclosure by attorney-client privilege, given that the communications were apparently with two co-administrative partners whom the firm had designated as its in-house counsel.
