AMEX Fines Specialists For Securities Violations

Law360 (September 27, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The American Stock Exchange is docking 17 current and former specialist firms a total of $2.6 million in fines, following in the footsteps of recent crackdowns by the New York Stock Exchange’s regulatory arm.

"These settlements represent the culmination of long investigations, and underscore the critical importance of compliance with these order handling rules," said Claudia Crowley, senior vice president and chief regulatory officer of the Amex.
