Wrigley Patent Invalid, Cadbury's Not Infringed: Judge

Law360, New York (June 29, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a patent dispute between rival candy companies William Wrigley Jr. Co. and Cadbury Adams USA over chewing gum flavoring, a judge has issued a mixed ruling, finding part of a Wrigley patent invalid and ruling that Wrigley did not infringe a Cadbury patent.

In a 65-page ruling Friday, Judge Robert M. Dow Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois granted Cadbury's motion for summary judgment that Wrigley's patent is invalid on grounds of anticipation and obviousness and approved Wrigley's motion...
