Spotify Can't Shake $321M Copyright Row In Tennessee
Law360 (October 2, 2018, 5:48 PM EDT) -- A Tennessee federal court has denied Spotify USA Inc.'s bid to toss a $321.3 million case in which the streaming service faces claims that it infringes hundreds of copyrights, saying a copyright administration company has standing to proceed with the matter.
The agreements struck by Bluewater Music Services Corp. with the owners of 2,142 copyrights give the company the right under legal precedent in the Middle District of Tennessee to file infringement claims against entities such as Spotify, according to a Sept. 28 order entered in the case on Monday.
