FTC Clears $70B Linde-Praxair Deal With Asset Sale

Law360 (October 22, 2018, 4:47 PM EDT) -- German gas giant Linde AG said Monday that it has received the last green light needed for its planned $70 billion merger with Praxair Inc. after the companies reached a deal with the Federal Trade Commission to sell several assets in exchange for the agency's blessing.

Under the terms of a settlement with the FTC, the companies agreed to unload most of Linde's bulk supply business in the U.S., several facilities connected to its on-site hydrogen and carbon monoxide business and a business supplying excimer laser gases, which are used in the semiconductor industry and for laser vision correction surgery.
