Senate Greenlights Wright Amendment Compromise

Law360 (September 29, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A bill to eliminate flight restrictions at Dallas Love Field Airport inched one step closer to passage on Friday when it gained the approval of the U.S. Senate after a key critic rescinded his opposition to the proposed legislation.

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) had previously blocked the Senate from considering the bill, criticizing a provision that would have given blanket immunity from legal challenges under competition laws to a deal to phase out the Wright Amendment.
