Exxon To Plead Guilty In Bird Death Suits

Law360, New York (July 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Exxon Mobil Corp. has agreed to plead guilty to federal charges that it killed dozens of ducks, grebes, owls and other birds in violation of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

Five single-count misdemeanor complaints, which each carry a maximum penalty of $15,000, were filed against Exxon in June in the U.S. district courts for the District of Kansas, the District of Wyoming, the District of Colorado, the Western District of Oklahoma and the Northern District of Texas.
