DOJ Antitrust Division Puts Big Telecoms In Hot Seat

Law360, New York (July 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice is reportedly looking at whether top U.S. telecommunications firms such as AT&T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc. are inappropriately using their sizable market power to squash smaller rivals.

The DOJ's Antirust Division has started an initial review of whether large telecommunications companies are violating antitrust laws, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing unnamed sources familiar with the early stage probe.
