GHG Regulation Of Transportation Fuels In Calif.

Law360, New York (July 24, 2009, 12:29 PM EDT) -- On April 23, the California Air Resources Board (“CARB”) adopted a low carbon fuel standard (“LCFS”) that is designed to achieve a 10 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from transportation fuels sources by 2020 as compared to 2010.

While many of the concepts in the LCFS are also part of federal draft regulations and pending legislation, and are also being considered by other states, it appears that California’s program may set the benchmark on GHG regulation of transportation fuels, particularly for establishing the GHG impact...
