Bail Denied For Ex-Comverse CEO In Namibia

Law360 (October 2, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An Israeli-born executive at the center of the U.S. options-backdating scandal told a Namibian court Monday he would plead not guilty and asserted that the warrant for his arrest was invalid.

But after hearing testimony for the prosecution from South Africa-based U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigations agent Marlene Williams, magistrate Uatjo Uanivi denied bail to Comverse Technology Inc.’s Jacob Alexander on grounds that he was likely to flee the country.
